The Federal Capital was put under heavy security blanket for Federal Budget 2011-12 session of the Parliament here on Friday. Extra deployment of Rangers, anti-Terrorist Squad and Islamabad Police were deputed to avert any untoward incident in Islamabad.
A comprehensive security plan was made and law enforcement agencies were put on high alert, while sniffer dogs have been sent at police pickets erected at entry and exit points of the Capital for effective checking of vehicles. Lady Commandoes are also performing security duties while policemen have been deputed at important signal points of the city.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani has instructed the SSP Islamabad and all other concerned officers to ensure tightened security in the city, police sources said, adding that combing was ordered in the slum areas while extra vigilance is being made at bus stands and other public places.
Extra deployment of police personnel will be ensured at important locations of the city including chowks and signals, they said, adding that police commandoes has been deputed in and around sensitive locations and important buildings while special police teams have been constituted by each police station for effective patrolling in its respective jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has issued special directives to all senior police officers to conduct checking at all police pickets in their areas to ensure foolproof security in the city. He has also directed for effective co-ordination among all wings of Islamabad police including operational police, CID Department, Security Division and Special Branch.
He said that special search of the forests and green belts of the city should be made to avoid any disruptive move from anti-social elements. The SSP also directed the beat officers to remain alert while Falcon and Eagle Squads have also been assigned the task of patrolling in the city.
