People expecting poor-friendly budget

All eyes are on the budget for the fiscal year 2011-12, as the people of the country have great expectations of getting some relief in the coming budget. Every year, the government presents businessmen-friendly budget providing no relief to the poor segment of the society.
The general pubic wants the prices of basic commodities come down and they should not move upward as a result of new budgetary measures. People are of the opinion that every year government claims that increase in taxes will have no impact on general pubic, whereas the business community always pass on the impact of taxes to the end users. A salaried person expressed hope that the finance minister might announce reasonable increase in salaries.
Another person was of the view that in Pakistan every day is a budget day, as tariff of utilities, oil prices, food items etc move up, having direct impact on home budget. A rickshaw driver said that every day government presents a new budget by increasing tariffs of utilities and oil prices, which have serious impact on income and expenses of poor people. Similarly, a labourer expressed no hope of relief in the budget but expected an increase in the miseries of common man.
