Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) has announced to host Pakistan Pharma Summit on 14th and 15th June 2011 at Pearl Continental Hotel under the theme "Reshaping Pakistan Pharma Industry: Trends, challenges and opportunities". Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Chairman (PPMA) Mohammed Haroon said that hosting the 1st ever Pakistan Pharma Summit was aimed at bringing great minds together.
He said that Pakistan pharma industry was currently undergoing a transition period. "To overcome the situation, the pharma industry needs to anticipate and adapt to the challenges and opportunities within this evolving landscape to ensure the uninterrupted supply of innovative medicine through research and development," he emphasised.
Haroon informed the media that as the event is approaching, Pakistan Pharma Summit is increasingly becoming a subject to a vibrant debate regarding its future role. He compared the pharma industry future with other sectors saying that like many other healthcare sectors, the industry in 2020 would have undergone enormous changes.
He said that keeping the substantiality of the subject in mind, they feel excited as they convinced and designed this unique event for better future.
Haroon was of the view that in the backdrop of debilitating economic situation of the country, they believe that pharmaceutical sector could play an important role by producing high quality medicine at affordable prices. He said that the development would also lead to more jobs and better GDP growth.
Experts from across the world will speak at the conference that would discuss the ways and means to increase trade among the neighbouring countries, he concluded.
