Directorate General Intelligence & Investigation - FBR has seized 1.0 kg heroin, 1.75 kg opium and 197 kg of hashish in three different operations across the country. In a statement issued here by the DG I&I FBR here on Monday, during last week the Directorate General Intelligence & Investigation - FBR seized 1.0 kg heroin, 1.75 kg opium and 197 kg of hashish in three operations.
Three FIRs, one at Karachi and two at Peshawar have been lodged under the Customs Act, 1969 and Control of Narcotics Substance Act, 1997 and five persons have been arrested. The value of seized drugs in international market is Rs 70 million (approx.). According to details, on receipt of specific information that an attempt would be made to smuggle heroin and opium from Balochistan to Karachi the staff of Directorate General mounted surveillance on Hub-River Road, near Northern Bypass Karachi.
On May 28, 2011 at around 1.30pm the suspected vehicle Mitsubishi Lancer car bearing Reg. No D-0928 Karachi, arrived which was intercepted by the staff of the Directorate General. Detailed search of the vehicle lead to the recovery of 1.025 Kg of heroin and 0.75 kg of opium tactfully concealed in the passenger seat of the car.
The Driver and his accomplice namely Muhammad Wali s/o Haji Muhammad Rafique and Khan Muhammad s/o Hazoor Bakhsh, respectively, have been arrested. During preliminary investigation the arrested persons revealed that the destination of the drugs was Mir Pur Khas (interior Sindh).
In a similar incident pursuant upon an information on May 27, 2011 at about 12.00 hours the staff of Directorate General signaled to stop a suspected vehicle Suzuki Jeep bearing Reg. No FDK-6791 coming from Peshawar, near Peshawar Toll Plaza M-I but the driver of the vehicle tried to sped away and his accomplice opened fire. However, the staff of Directorate General overpowered the driver of the vehicle namely Shujat Ali s/o Basharat Ali whereas his accomplices escaped from the scene. Detailed search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 147 Kgs Hashish and 1 Kg Opium concealed in the secret cavities of the vehicle.
Similarly, the Staff of Directorate General intercepted a suspected vehicle on G.T Road near Haripur. Search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 50 kgs of hashish concealed in the secret cavities of the vehicle. The driver namely Rehmat Khan s/o Tela Muhammad Khan and his accomplice Madat Khan s/o Ozal Khan were arrested, the DG I&I FBR added.
