'Operation in North Waziristan to trigger major war in region'

Jamaat-e-Islami Chief, Syed Munawar Hasan has said military operation in North Waziristan will trigger a major war in the region. Expressing grave concern over the reports of military operation in North Waziristan, he stressed upon the government and the armed forces to refrain from such an operation at the US bidding as Washington wanted to spread the war flames to every nook and corner of Pakistan and pit the masses against their armed forces.
He said the military high-ups and government ministers were repeatedly issuing statements that there should be no politicking on Karachi and Abbotabad incidents. He asked whether the patriotic people should keep silent if the civil rulers and armed forces accepted US slavery.
If the sovereignty and independence of the country is lost, the expertise and capability of the navy, air force and army becomes a question mark, an important CIA operative and double murderer like Raymond Davis is freed and every US demand is accepted, should the masses remain silent? he asked. Should the people simply listen to the official statements of "no intelligence failure" and "no security lapse" with ease and composure?
He said that in Quetta, innocent Chechen women and children were shot dead brutally and the colonel responsible for the cold-blooded murder had not even been relieved from his duty. Such a shameful attitude was not acceptable to the nation, he declared.
The JI chief said that the appearance of the civil and military leadership before the US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, after the Abbotabad and naval base attacks had forced the nation to hold their heads in shame. He said, a military operation in North Waziristan would be deemed to be in compliance with Hilary Clinton's order and the civil rulers and armed forces would not get public support for that. The JI chief said that the nation was realising that the present civil and military high-ups were unable to protect the people from US terrorism and the armed forces had turned the people a soft fodder for the US instead of providing them protection.
Pakistan was confronting grave threats from all sides, its economy had been ruined, the people were deprived of basic facilities and facing the problems of lawlessness, unemployment, price spiral and loadshedding. The parliament had adopted two resolutions on the US relations and the war on terror but the government had no intention to implement them, he said adding that the people would have to unite and come on roads to free themselves from US slavery.
