Lahore High Court here Monday sought replies from the ministry of information and Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) managing director in a petition challenging discriminatory policy with regard to the proceedings of National Assembly. A bar member Waqar Ahmad Chaudhry argued that PTV prefers members from the treasury bench in the coverage of parliament proceedings and does not telecast speeches of the opposition leader.
He said this act of the TV channel is in violation of Article 19A of the constitution, which guarantees excess of information for everyone. He asked the court that secretary information and PTV MD be directed to give impartial coverage of parliament session.
