Pakistan Advertisers Society (PAS) announced the winners of first PAS Awards 2011 late Friday night. Fourteen people were given awards in 14 different categories. The award giving ceremony was held at Karachi Expo Centre, which was attended by 'who's who' of the advertising, marketing and media industry.
Dr Abdul Jabbar, Chairman, PEMRA, Reema Khan, Samina Peerzada, Sania Saeed, Vaneeza Ahmed, Chef Zakir, Asif Bean, Sultana Siddiqi, Amer Pasha, Tapu Javeri, Masood Hashmi, President MAP, Shahnoor Ahmed, Chairman, AAP, Sarmad Ali, General Secretary, APNS, Sohail Ansar were some of the prominent figures who gave away the awards to the winners. A total of 105 entries were received for 18 different categories, out of which 41 nominations in 14 categories made to the final round.
ADCOM won 3 awards for Telenor's "Karo Mumkin", Engro Foods' "Tarang" and Tapal Tea's "Committee"; JWT won two awards for EBM's "Gluco Biscuit" and Unilever's SUNSILK "Co- Creation for Expert Touched Hair"; LOWE and RAUF won two awards for Unilever Wall's "Badami" and Surf Excel's "Omer and Dadi - Aik Minute".
Bond Advertising (Pvt) Ltd, Interflow, Frequency Media So Ho Square Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, Option A-consulting, The Brand Crew and Spectrum Communications (Pvt) Ltd won single award each for Bank Al Habib's "Special Saver Certificate", Ufone's "voice quality", Coca Cola's "Coke Studio - Season 3", Knorr's "Quest for the Noodle Pot", Shan Foods' "Shan Oriental Range" and Havoline-Caltex's "The Havoline Way", respectively.
Addressing the ceremony, Aly Mustansir, Chairman, PAS, said that prime objective of PAS Awards 2011 was to 'raise the standard' of advertising in Pakistan by acknowledging and honouring idea, strategy and creativity to encourage competition within the industry.
He further added that PAS Awards 2011 is the first of its kind and hopes that in the coming years more and more partners will join PAS to strengthen the platform that will eventually benefit the industry.
