Chairman Amir Allawallah and Vice Chairman Nabeel Hashmi Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers (Paapam) has expressed sadness over the treatment being vetted out to the auto parts industry by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.
In a joint statement here on Thursday Paapam leaders noted with concern that in spite of repeated requests to strategies the export potential of the value added sector, they have been unable to meet the TDAP CEO in spite of repeated requests for an appointment.
"We are holding a mega Auto parts show in Lahore in October this year and marketing it at an international level. On the other side we would like to increase our exposure internationally but TDAP seems to be oblivious to both our activities. Even international exhibitions that TDAP is undertaking they have increased the participation costs exorbitantly unilaterally without taking the association into confidence" stated Chairman Paapam.
They said Pakistan holds a rich potential of non-traditional items, which if properly marketed and promoted can yield extraordinary results. Auto parts command a global business volume of over 600 billion dollars. India's exports of auto-parts last year were in excess of 16 billion dollars. The reason behind this phenomenal growth has been a focused Engineering Export Board, which exclusively looks after the Engineering goods affairs. "We would certainly like to work with TDAP but if TDAP feels it cannot support the auto parts industry then we should be told accordingly," they added.
