Power and water projects: government proposes allocation of Rs 8.5 billion in PSDP of fiscal year 2012
The government has proposed allocations of Rs 6.55 billion for 12 new power projects and Rs 1.95 billion for 17 new water projects in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) of next fiscal year.
According to official documents, exclusively made available to Business Recorder, the government has proposed Rs 1.2 billion allocation for 440MW CCP project in Faisalabad and Rs 1.8 billion for import of 100MW power from Iran (220 kv Grid Station Gwadar and Allied T/L from Iran to Gwadar, financed by Iran).
The government has also proposed an allocation of Rs 900 million for 500kv third Circuit Jamshoro-Moro-Rahim Yar Khan Transmission Line and Allied Grid Station and Extension and Rs 500 million for each project including: (i) Ext/August of existing 500 and 220 kv G/S of NTDC System by installation of additional transformer, (ii) 220/132kv Dera Murad Jamali Sub Station, and (iii) transmission for dispersal of power from Neelum Jhelum Hydro Power Project.
It proposed an allocation of RS 400 million for interconnection for dispersal of power from Barrage Mounted Karkey Rental Power Plant Phase-1 (231.8 MW anchored at Korangi Karachi), Rs 135 million for Grid System Operation and Maintenance System Improvement, Rs 30 million for installation of capacity building of NTDC/Pepco/MOWP and Rs 25 million for feasibility study for dispersal of 100 MW power to be imported from Iran.
For power sector, the government proposed to allocate Rs 348.5 million for Pattan Hydropower Project Gilgit-Baltistan (2,800MW) and Rs 211.45 million for review and evaluation of master planning of hydro power and water resources of western rivers.
The government has proposed to allocate Rs 500 million for Nai Gai Dam, Dadu Sindh; Rs 200 million for provision of groundwater, Rs 100 million for CRBC first lift cum gravity project DI Khan and Rs 50 million each for the following: (i) construction of Mujahid Dam, Rawalpindi, (ii) construction of Lawa Dam, Chakwal, (iii) construction of Mohra Shera Dam, Rawalpindi, (iv) Pelar Dam, Awarn Balochistan, (v) construction of Kot Fateh Khan Dam Attock, Punjab and (vi) construction Darban Dam DI Khan. Similarly, the government has proposed to allocate Rs 200 million for Hingol Dam, Lasbela Balochistan and Rs 10 million for Sita Dam Project Qambar Shahdad Kot Sindh.
