Prominent analyst Vice Admiral Syed Iqtedar Hussain Shah (Retd) strongly condemned Naval Base attack and said such act of terrorism cannot deter Pakistan. Talking to Radio Pakistan on Tuesday, he said PNS Mehran was very important naval base of Pakistan with its surveillance system to control naval traffic in maritime boundaries.
He said half of the task of a naval force was carried out by air elements including helicopters and surveillance aircraft during peace and war times. Iqteder Hussain said Pakistan Navy had certainly suffered a serious loss because of attack on its surveillance aircraft but such an attack cannot paralyse Navy.
He added terrorists had attacked a highly guarded complex and government of Pakistan should seriously focus on the issue of terrorism to deal with the problem with full might. To a question, he said federal government should chalk out a policy to deal with the menace of terrorism and all the four provinces should abide by the policy in true spirit. He said Pakistan had been badly entangled with issue of terrorism and government should make efforts to come out of the situation.
