Punjab Labour Minister, Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi has said that government will provide state of the art health care facilities to the labourers and new social security hospitals will be set up and existing hospitals updated. He told that during next financial year, a new social security hospital will be established at Sheikhupura where modern facilities and medical equipment will be provided.
He expressed these views in 112th governing body budget meeting of Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) presided by its Chairman/Minister Labour. The meeting passed the revised budget 2010-11 and annual budget for the year 2011-12 for PESSI.
Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi said that government is giving top priority to the provision of state of the art healthcare facilities to the labourers and the main objective of the labour department is to provide free of cost comprehensive healthcare facilities to the workers and their family members. He said that social security department is introducing hospital management information system costing rupees 107 million, and the scheme would be introduced at the dispensary level in phases. He said latest medical facilities to workers and their family members are being provided, even in the case of chronic and fatal diseases.
Secretary Labour, Commissioner PESSI, high-ranking officials of labour, health, finance and other departments were also present on the occasion. Meanwhile, Director General and Cultural Atashi of Cultural Centre Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran in Lahore, Dr Abbas Famori met Minister Labour Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi at his office and expressed solidarity with the people and government of Pakistan. The minister expressed good wishes and sentiments for the people and government of Iran. They also exchanged views of mutual interest on the occasion.
