The rupee showed further improvement against dollar on the currency market on Tuesday in process of trading, experts said. As a result of intervention by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the rupee posted fresh gain of 24 paisa versus the US currency for buying at 85.60 and it rose by 23 paisa for selling at 85.65, they said.
The yuan ended up against dollar on Tuesday, even though the People's Bank of China set a weaker mid-point as the market had priced in a rally in dollar. "The yuan has fallen a lot yesterday afternoon as the dollar hit a new high, so today's rebound is quite reasonable," said a dealer at a Chinese commercial bank in Shanghai. Indian rupee was trading at Rs 45.23 versus dollar and Malaysian ringgit was at 3.0550 in terms of the US currency. Interbank buy/sell rates for taka against dollar on Tuesday: 73.25/73.39 (previous 73.25/73.34). Call Money Rates: 8.00-12.00 percent (previous 6.5-12.00 percent.

According to the currency dealers, the rupee was improved by 40-paisa on buying side and 70-paisa on selling side in relation to the greenback. Because of selling pressure, the dollar could not sustain and declined to Rs 85.80 and Rs 86.50, as its buying and selling rates against the overnight closing of Rs 86.20 and Rs 87.20, respectively.
Likewise, the rupee continued rising trend and further improved against the British pound. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 139.20 and Rs 140.00, as compared to Monday closing of Rs 139.50 and Rs 140.50, respectively, the dealers added.
The dollar resumed trading at Rs 84.50 (buying) and Rs 85.10 (selling) against the last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 84.50 (buying) and Rs 85.10 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 136.50 (buying) and Rs 137.60 (selling) against the previous rate. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 136.50 (buying) and Rs 137.60 (selling).
