Hottest day of May

The Karachiites experienced the hottest day of the month on Saturday, as mercury hit a record 44 degrees centigrade amid long power breakdowns. A Met official confirmed that this was the highest temperature for May in the last several years. The humidity was low at 29 per cent. For this month the highest temperature was recorded at 46 degrees celsius on May 22, 1981, he added.
He said that the southern parts of the country were under a heat wave, which is likely to continue for couple of days.
