The Karachi Port handled 133,475 tonnes of cargo including 72,935 tonnes of import cargo, 60,540 tonnes of export cargo and 3,397 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 72,935 tonnes comprised of 24,296 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,639 tonnes of bulk cargo: 9,178 tonnes of coal; 2,409 tonnes of rock phosphate and 35,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 60,540 tonnes comprised of 26,896 tonnes of containerised cargo; 742 tonnes of general cargo; 15,802 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,446 tonnes of cement; 11,210 tonnes of wheat and 17,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Two container ships namely Manila Express and Northern Valour sailed out to sea during the reported period. Eight vessels viz MT Lahore, Chemroad Dita, Valopoula, Masar Trade, Hanjin Berlin, Hyundai Independence, Konstantina and Kota Arif carrying crude oil tanker, ethanol, DAP, rice carrier and four container ships respectively are currently at the berths.
Five ships namely Hanjin Berlin, Konstantina, Cordelia, MT Lahore and Oriental Emerald carrying two container ships, coal carrier, oil tanker and naphtha carrier respectively expected to sail on Friday, while two ships namely Chemroad Dita and Green Line with oil tanker and cement carrier are expected to sail on Saturday.
Three vessels viz CSL Ride, APL Chicago and An Xin Jiang carrying two container ships and steel coils respectively due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz SCF Alpine, Lavender, Bussara Naree and Abba carrying mogas, containers and steel coils respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
A total number of eight vessels viz CV Atlantic Trader, CV Dubai Express, CV CSAV Appennini, CV MSC Sierra-II, MV Liberty Spirit, MV Al-Aska, MT Ocean Concord and MT DL Ace are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, rice, cement, chemicals and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Four ships namely Glory, Al-Soor-II, MT Karachi and Sapphire-II carrying containers, diesel oil, furnace oil and cement respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three four vessels viz CV Glory, CV MSC Aurelie and MT Karachi carrying containers and furnace oil respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
Two container ships namely CV MSC Magali and CV MSC Aurelie respectively are due to arrive on Saturday, while another container ship namely CV Maersk Georgia is due to arrive on Sunday. A total number of six vessels viz CV Angeles, CV UASC Damam, CV Nedlloyd Mercator, MV Ocean Star, MV Narghade and MV Bussara Narree carrying three container ships and three wheat carriers are also expected to arrive at Port Qasim.
