Major 7.3 quake strikes Papua New Guinea: USGS

The quake struck at a depth of 115 kilometres (71 miles) southwest of the coastal city of Lae and 223 kilomtres from the capital Port Moresby.

Witnesses in Port Moresby told AFP people came running out of buildings, power lines swayed and parked cars rocked.
