Swiss franc lower versus euro

Published Updated

The Swiss franc was lower against the euro on Tuesday as the single currency climbed off recent lows after eurozone finance ministers approved a large loan programme to help out struggling Portugal. The three-year 78 billion euro ($110.8 billion) loan programme was seen as positive for the single currency, although it remains under pressure while concerns about debt-burdened eurozone members persist.
The franc was 0.3 percent lower against the euro compared to the New York close, trading at 1.2558 francs per euro at 0658 GMT. The franc was also 0.3 percent softer against the dollar at 0.8858 francs per dollar.
