Won Intel award: Pakistani scientists use Nanotechnology to clean water

Ambreen Bibi and Mehwish Ghafoor of Islamabad won a Third Place Grand Award in the field of Environmental Sciences at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, a programme of Society for Science and the Public. They received the award and $1,000 for developing a treatment that utilities Nanotechnology to make polluted water drinkable.
Matthew Feddersen and Blake Marggraff from Lafayette, Calif., were awarded the top prize. They received $75,000 and the Gordon E Moore Award, in honour of the Intel co-founder and retired chairman and CEO, for developing a potentially more effective and less expensive cancer treatment that places tin metal near a tumour before radiation therapy.-PR
