A former foreign minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, said here on Saturday that "I like no confrontation between United States and Pakistan and want to develop mutual trust and respect because conflict is harmful to both countries." He added: "Every Pakistani wants to raise his head with pride and he does not need to be apologetic."
Addressing a press conference at Multan airport, he said that bilateral relations between US and Pakistan are at the lowest ebb due to suspicious state. "Now we have to restore our confidence/trust and we would have to develop relations in prestigious manners".
He said that America cannot maintain peace and tranquillity without Pakistan's support. Pakistan is a very important country strategically which cannot be neglected in any manner, he added.
Qureshi said that his questions raised in the joint session were declared as invalid .These questions are being raised by every Pakistani and the nation requires answers to these question. Mehmood said that he had asked why the political leadership issued this statement after the death of Osama bin Laden, "It is a great victory of Pakistan," They received congratulations on this event.
He asked whether attack on Pakistan's sovereignty and arrival of foreign boats on Pakistan's land were a victory of Pakistan. Why did the government issue the first press release after 36 hours when foreign media established its allegations against Pakistan and it washed out Pakistani sacrifices in the war against terror. Why was the meeting of defence committee of federal cabinet convened after 10 days of this occurrence.
Parliament was taken into confidence after 11 days. The world believed on one-sided propaganda. Why did the prime minister give preference to his visit to France on this crucial national issue. President of Pakistan was busy in oath-administering of PML-Q ministers when the world wanted to hear truth from Pakistani leadership. What will be the terms of reference of inquiry commission. Whether its report will be made public or not like that of Hamood-ur-Rehman Commission, US President Obama had alleged that a support mechanism of Osama exists in Pakistan. How can the government deal with this allegation and what strategy would be adopted by it to dismantle this support system.
