First institutional effort has been made to provide conducive environment to the industrialists and prospective investors intending to invest in Faisalabad Region, said Commissioner Tahir Hussain. Inaugurating the Industrial-Police Liaison Committee here late on Friday night, the Commissioner said that the industry was a mainstay of national economy and efforts have been made to provide them workable environment to continue their normal industrial activities without any hindrance.
He said that the Administration was making solo-efforts but the young industrialists have taken a bold step to help the Police in overcoming the industry-related crimes. He added that collaborated efforts have already been initiated which have yielded positive results.
Regional Police Officer Aftab Ahmed Cheema termed the establishment of the IPLC as a historic event in the history of Faisalabad which would not only provide protection to the industrialists but would also improve the image of the police force. He said that the philosophy of the IPLC is based on Community Policing and is worked with close liaison with industrialists who were contributing heavily towards national economy. He said that the IPLC has been mandated by IG Punjab Police to provide full and foolproof security to the industrialists and their families. He said that if it succeeded in providing peaceful environment, it would naturally attract the expatriates to invest in their beloved country and contribute their role in the development of Pakistan. He added that it is the only available solution to control growing unemployment in the country. He said that instructions have already been passed on to the DPOs of Faisalabad Region to take elaborate measures for the security of industrial units and their en route cargo. He added that Police will have close linkages with concerned industrial units to guide them about necessary preventive measures.
IPLC Chief Omer Nazar Shah, explaining the aims and object for the creation of this Committee, underlined the importance of peaceful industrial climate and said that despite of the best efforts of the local Police and Administration, there were series of incidents of dacoities in industrial units and cases of abduction for ransom.
He said: "We are confident that these incidents could be checked with collaborated efforts of the Police, Administration and the industrialists. Hence IPLC has been established and industrialists have shown keen interest to get membership of this Committee". He said that the Committee has so far received 1000 applications for membership which is indicative of the confidence of the local Industrialists in IPLC.
