A US drone aircraft on Friday fired four missiles at a vehicle in restive tribal region, killing five people, local intelligence officials said. The incident took place in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, a known hotbed of Taliban and al Qaeda militants. An intelligence official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the first two missiles missed the fast-moving vehicle.
"The third missile hit it and then yet another destroyed it completely," he said. According to the official, all five bodies were charred and beyond recognition. The United States has urged Pakistan to act against militants in North Waziristan, especially those linked with the Afghan Haqqani group, which is accused of carrying out deadly cross-border attacks on Nato forces in Afghanistan.
