Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said the government is formulating policies to modernise the means of communications in the country. Railways, he maintained, is the cheapest and safest mode of land transportation in the world, and thus the system needs to be refurbished to ensure comfort of the masses and improved connectivity.
The prime minister expressed these views while talking to Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, Minister for Railways who called on him at Prime Minister's Secretariat on Wednesday. The prime minister asked the minister for railways to take measures to transform Railways into a profitable entity. He also stressed upon the need to study the successful models of railways system in the neighbouring countries.
