Islamabad Police apprehended 101 persons involved in street crimes and dacoities during first four months of the current year and seized six stolen cars, 82 mobile phones and other looted items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, said a spokesman in Islamabad Police on Tuesday.
DIG (Operations) Bani Amin Khan in consultation with SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan devised a special plan to curb street crime under which all SDPOs, SHOs and Patrolling Officers were directed to increase vigilance in their respective areas. Under the plan, the record of those persons ever remained involved in street crimes was also obtained by the police officials and owing to strict monitoring various people involved in street crimes were apprehended, the spokesman said.
City Circle of Islamabad Police arrested 15 street criminals and recovered 37 mobile phones, while Saddar Circle arrested 58 persons from whom 33 mobile phones as well as four snatched cars were recovered. Industrial Area Circle arrested 13 persons and seized seven mobile phones, cash and one snatched car. Rural Zone nabbed 15 persons and recovered five mobile phones and one car from their possession.
DIG (Operations) Bani Amin Khan has appreciated the performance of police and directed them to curb the menace in 2011 through effective patrolling and high vigilance. SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has further directed all Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) to ensure effective patrolling in their jurisdictions and take stern action against the anti-social elements.
