Calls grow for President, Prime Minister, CoAS, DG ISI to resign: Senate debates Abbottabad operation

The calls for resignation of the President, Prime Minister, Army Chief and Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) over the Abbottabad operation are growing, as Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) also joined the chorus on Tuesday.
The JI call to the top civil and military leadership to resign came in Senate as the main opposition party-PML-N, has already made similar demand in the upper house of the parliament. The JI blamed both the civil and military leadership for failure to defend the country's sovereignty and integrity, terming the US action as sheer violation of country's sovereignty.
Taking part in the debate over the US raid in Senate, JI's Senator Professor Mohammad Ibrahim lashed out at the government for its 'flawed' foreign policy, which is, he said, centered on pleasing the foreign masters. He called for reviewing the policy.
He was of the view that the entire nation was demanding that President Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani, Army Chief General Kayani and ISI chief General Pasha should tender resignations by admitting their failure in defending the country's sovereignty against the US invasion in Abbottabad.
Referring to the Iranian intelligence's chief statement that Osama bin Laden died earlier than May 02 incident, the JI's leader also raised serious questions on credibility of US assertions about the operation. He claimed that the US forces brought some women during Abbottabad operation and left them in the compound with an impression that they were wives of Osama bin Laden. "It was all a fake drama staged by the US forces just to discredit Pakistan," he said.
He further said that the US should leave the region after an end of the Osama episode. "If we accept that Osama is no more, then there is no justification for the US to remain in the region," he said. Senator Lashkari Raysani of PPP while taking part in the debate demanded that Pakistan should take up the US unilateral raid in United Nations to be resolved under international laws. "Don't we have the right to go to the UN and seek resolution of the issue under international laws," he asked, adding that the world should be clearly told that Pakistan is a sovereign nation and its sovereignty must be respected.
Referring to the demands of judicial inquiry by some members into Abbottabad incident, he said that Parliament should be the centre of all decisions. Regarding threatening statement by Information Minister towards India, Raysani said that he was surprised with the remarks of the Minister as the raid was conducted by the US and the government's spokesman was threatening India.
PML-Q's Senator Haroon Akhtar said that the US through its unilateral raid actually wanted to take the credit alone for killing Osama despite the fact that our intelligence agencies shared important information with the CIA. He was of the view that there were many questions that needed to be answered in the entire episode of Osama bin Laden's killing. He also asked the government to tell the nation the deal behind release of Raymond Davis, adding that it was necessary that the people should know the truth behind his release.
Another PML-Q's Senator Seemi Siddiqui demanded review of the foreign and defence policies. He claimed that the government issued visas to 7000 Americans without security clearance. She further said that Nato supply should immediately be stopped as the heavy traffic flow on the country's road network was resulting in huge losses to the national exchequer.
Senator Tariq Azeem while condemning the US raid also raised objection on issuance of visas to some foreign journalists, which he said were reporting against Pakistan. Senator Saleh Shah criticized the US double standard, saying that drone attacks were only carried out against those people who are loyal and patriotic Pakistanis while those carrying suicide attacks inside Pakistan were not being targeted.
