SC rejects NAB's appeal to reopen Hudaibiya Paper Mills case

The Supreme Court (SC) rejected on Friday National Accountability Bureau (NAB)'s appeal to reopen the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case against the Sharifs.

The three member bench, headed by Justice Mushir Alam, includes Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Mazhar Aalm Miankhel. Justice Alam read out the one-line order, which stated that NAB's appeal to reopen the case is dismissed and a detailed verdict will be issued later, local media reported.

During the proceedings, NAB lawyer attempted to convince the SC to allow reopening the Hudaibya Paper Mills reference for the 'sake of justice'.

SC adjourns Hudaibiya Papers Mills case till Friday without proceeding

On September 20, NAB had pleaded SC to dismiss Lahore High Court's decision to end the Hudaibiya Paper Mills and reopen the case as new evidence had been exposed in the Panama case joint investigation team report.

Deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, their mother Shamim Akhtar, younger brother late Abbas Sharif, Nawaz’s children, Maryam and Hussain Nawaz, Hamza Shahbaz, Hudaibiya Paper Mills Ltd and others have been named as respondents in the appeal.
