As per information of DGPR received here Sunday Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is determined to utilise all available resources for the provision of better health care to the poor.
Parliamentary Secretary Health Dr Saeed Elahi, MPA stating on this said that after negotiations with different organisations of Health Department employees Chief Minister Punjab has issued instructions for a special package of Rs three billion for increasing the salaries of doctors, dental surgeons, pharmacists, nurses, paramedical and other staff of Health Department as well as extending them other facilities.
He said that lengthy meetings were held with doctors, dental surgeons, pharmacists, nurses and paramedical staff associations and their proposals and suggestions were also solicited.
He pointed that a three-member committee nominated by these organisations and representatives of government would finalise salaries, promotions, pay protection and other facilities for Health Department employees.
Dr Saeed Elahi said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has regularised the services of 4000 medical officers and 2000 specialist doctors who were working on contract basis during the last two years while the budget of Health Department has been increased from Rs10 billion to 46 billion. Moreover, he said that revolutionary measures including free medicines and dialysis facility as well as air-conditioners and generators being provided in hospitals for modern healthcare facilities to the masses.
