Protest leaders in northwest Syria's flashpoint port city of Banias were among more than 250 people arrested on Sunday, including doctors in a hospital under siege, a Syrian human rights group said. Sheikh Anas al-Ayrout, a Muslim cleric considered the head of the dissent movement in Banias, was among those arrested as were dozens of women, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
