Aashiyana Housing Project in full swing: Punjab chief minister

Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif paid his weekly visit to the under construction Aashiyana Housing Project at Saroba Atari, here on Friday. The chief minister said that Aashiyana Housing Schemes Project having latest residential facilities has been launched for the benefit of the poor and common man first time in the history of the country. He said that the schemes would have all those basic amenities as available in the housing societies of the elite.
He said that after Lahore, Aashiyana Housing Project would be launched in Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jehlum and Sahiwal during the current month. He said that transparency is the hallmark of Punjab government and like other projects, the scheme is also being completed in a transparent manner and houses would be allotted through transparent balloting.
Expressing his satisfaction over the pace of work on the first Aashiyana housing scheme in Lahore, the Chief Minister directed to further accelerate pace of execution of the project. He said that playgrounds, medical and vocational institutions, as well as all other basic facilities would be made available in Aashiyana housing scheme. He said that the project is meant for the poor and no compromise would be made on its standard and he would personally supervise all those schemes.
He issued instructions for third-party audit for evaluating the quality of work on Aashiyana housing scheme and removal of encroachments from the areas. He directed Secretary Communication & Works to form a company on a pattern of Nespak comprising the best engineers and experts so that excellent designs and early and transparent completion of development projects could be ensured. He also inspected the site for hockey and cricket stadiums, vocational school and hospital as well as under-construction two and three marla houses.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Member Provincial Assembly Mian Naseer Ahmad, Commissioner and District Co-ordination Officer Lahore, Secretary Communication & Works and officers of departments concerned were present on the occasion. On the occasion, Chairman Punjab Land Development Company Sheikh Allauddin gave detailed briefing regarding the pace of implementation of the project.
Later, the chief minister visited the under-construction biotechnology-park of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) at Rukh Tera on Burki Road. Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr Muhammad Nawaz gave detailed briefing to the CM regarding the project.
