Punjab University spokesman has stated that the varsity administration himself will hold the Book Fair from 12th to 14th May 2011 at the Main Corridor of Institute of Education and Research and would provide complete security to booksellers and publishers in this regard. He said that Booksellers and Publishers could submit their application for the reservation of stalls uptill 7th May.
He assured that PU administration would provide complete security to the books and booksellers. While Punjab University College of Art & Design organised a ceremony in connection Sitara-e-Imtiaz got by renowned Architecture and Cartoonist Professor Dr Shoukat Ali.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran, Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi, Amjad Islam Amjad, Cartoonist Javed Iqbal, Incharge Fine Arts Government Post graduate College Rawalpindi Mamoona Khan, Dr Ejaz Ahmad, Principal College of Art and Design Professor Dr Rahat Naveed Masood, faculty member and a large number of students were also present in the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran congratulated Professor Dr Shoukat Mahmood and said that it was an honour for Punjab University that Dr Shoukat Mahmood's services are available. He said that his services will always remembered for the promotion of PhD programme in the college.
He said that he always seen Dr Shoukat Mahmood in a pleasant mood. He said that everybody knows Maxin and he has both the qualities of architecture and cartoonists. Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi said that Shoukat Mahmood has very nice sense of humour and he is one of them who are respected from deep heart. His cartoons reflect both English and Urdu and they are a combination of both cultures.
Amjad Islam Amjad said that to become a good cartoonist one must be a good artist and Dr Shoukat Mahmood has both the qualities. His cartoons reflect the life challenges in the shape of humour and their captions are very creative. Speaking to the ceremony Dr Javed Iqbal said that he started his career by inspiring Dr Shoukat Mahmood and adopted this field with enthusiasm despite having skills in architecture and Islamic calligraphy. Mamoona Khan, Sameera Jawad, Dr Ejaz Ahmad, Muhammad Javed and Dr Anees Siddiqi also addressed the ceremony. Later Principal Professor Dr Rahat Naveed Masood thanks the guest and presented a gift to Dr Shoukat Mahmood.
