The government on Thursday tired its level best to avoid debate on the issue of Osama bin Laden's killing by the US forces inside Pakistan in Upper House of the Parliament. The opposition members wanted to continue debate on this issue but Leader of the House in the Senate Nayyar Hussain Bokhari requested Deputy Chairman Senate Jan Muhmmad Jamali to take up item five of the agenda relating to motion of thanks to President for his address to the joint sitting of the Parliament.
He said that the minister was present in the House to wind up the debate on the address of the President. Ishaq Dar, Professor Khurshid Ahmed and other members said that the House has started debate on this issue on Wednesday by suspending the rules.
Raza Rabbani said, "Mr Chairman you have suspended the rules of Business to debate the issue so it has superseded the presidential address. The House should continue the debate on the issue of Osama Bin Laden's killing by the US force inside Pakistan in Upper House of the Parliament." The Leader of the House insisted that the item five of the agenda relating to motion of thanks be taken up but the Deputy Chairman allowed debate on Laden issue.
