THE RUPEE: dollar lower

Steady trend was seen on the currency market on Monday as the rupee managed to recover some ground versus dolalr, dealers said. The rupee rose by 13 paisa versus dollar for buying at 84.55 and it also picked up 10 paisa for selling at 84.60, they said.
Interbank buy/sell rates for taka against dollar on Monday: 72.94/73.00 (previous 72.89/72.98) Call Money Rates: 4.00-8.50 percent (previous 5.00-7.00 percent)
The Indian rupee eased on demand for dollars from oil refiners and tracking euro's drop against the US unit, and traders said the market should be range-bound ahead of the central bank's policy on Tuesday. At 11:17 am (0547 G MT), the partially convertible rupee was at 44.3125/3175 per dollar, 0.2 percent weaker than its previous close of 44.21/22.

The dollar resumed trading at Rs 84.45 (buying) and Rs 84.60 (selling) and closed at Rs 84.50 (buying) and Rs 84.65 (selling). According to dealers, the dollar was firm due to surge in its demand.
However, pound remained unchanged at Rs 140.50 and Rs 141.00 for buying and selling, respectively.
The dollar resumed trading at Rs 84.70 (buying) and Rs 85.20 (selling) against same last rates. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 84.70 (buying) and Rs 85.20 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 136.15 (buying) and Rs 137.15 (selling) against same previous rates. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 136.15 (buying) and Rs 137.15 (selling).
