A bar member has approached the Lahore High Court praying to hold an inquiry into allegations of sexual harassment levelled by an American journalist, Kim Barker, against PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif. The petitioner, Masood Gujar, also prayed that the foreign ministry be directed to lodge a strong protest against this move.
The petitioner said the allegations of sexual harassment by a lady reporter of Chicago Tribune are part of character-assassination campaign against Nawaz Sharif for taking a bold stance on Raymond Davis issue. Kim Barker, an American reporter who covered Afghanistan and Pakistan for Chicago Tribune in 2003, claims that she was propositioned by Nawaz Sharif when she met him for interviews for her newspaper.
Barker in her recently published book "The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan", claimed that Nawaz Sharif gave her an Apple iphone as a gift and asked her to be his "special friend", after she had declined Sharif's alleged sexual advance.
