Increase in salaries: 'doctors to hear good news in coming budget'
Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that the promises made by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif with doctors will be fulfilled at all cost and doctors will hear a good news with regard to increase in their salaries in the coming budget.
Rashid, here on Thursday, said that resolution of problems of doctors is top priority of the present government and the long-standing demands were resolved during the era of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Rashid said that present government has regularised the services of six thousand doctors working on contract for the last 12 years, 750 new vacancies of post-graduate trainee doctors were created. In addition more than 1600 medical officers/women medial officers were recruited through Punjab Public Service Commission during Shahbaz Sharif's government and monthly allowances of PG trainee doctors and house officers were increased.
Senator Rashid further said that the total budget of health department has enhanced from Rs 11 billion to Rs 46 billion in present government. He said that on the order of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, air-conditioners and generators were installed in general wards at a cost of Rs 2 billion for creating patient-friendly atmosphere in the hospitals. Furthermore, besides emergency, provision of free medicines were ensured in indoors for which Rs 6 billion had been allocated in the current budget.
