UBL earns Rs 3.272 billion profit

The profit after tax (unconsolidated) of United Bank Limited has increased to Rs 3.272 billion in the quarter ended on March 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 2.783 billion earned in the corresponding period in 2010. The board of directors of the bank in its meeting held on Wednesday at Abu Dhabi declared that the bank's earning per share increased to Rs 2.67 in the period under review against Rs 2.27 in the same period of last year.
According to the financial results sent to Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), the bank's mark-up/return/interest earning increased to Rs 16.702 billion in this quarter against Rs 14.195 billion in the same quarter of last year while mark-up/return/interest expenses increased to Rs 7.596 billion against Rs 5.996 billion. The bank's total non-mark-up/return/interest income increased to Rs 3.009 billion in this quarter against Rs 2.361 billion in the same period last year while total non-mark-up/interest expenses increased to Rs 4.763 billion against Rs 4.183 billion. The bank's profit before taxation increased to Rs 5.012 billion in the first quarter of 2011 against Rs 4.260 billion in the same quarter in 2010.
