Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday called for formation of new provinces in Sindh as being demanded in Punjab, adding that Karachi be made a province, Aaj News reported. Addressing foundation stone laying ceremony of Danish School building in D. G. Khan, he termed those killed in North Waziristan drone attacks as like his brothers.
Shahbaz said US drone attacks were promoting terrorism in Pakistan. "This government cannot stop missile attacks because they are earning dollars in exchange of those attacks," he claimed.
Refusing to comment on the statement of his party's leader Makhdoom Javaid Hashmi, Shahbaz prayed for his long life.
Our Reporter from Lahore adds: Shahbaz Sharif said that Daanish School project was a revolutionary step of the provincial government which would not only minimise the divide between the rich and the poor but the children of the poor parents would also be able to acquire modern education and play their due role in national development and prosperity.
He said that network of Daanish Schools would be spread to the whole province. He said that if provision of modern educational facilities to poor children was a crime, he would commit this crime again and again.
He said that Quaid-e-Azam had not created Pakistan so that it should have Drone attacks, terrorism, corruption and oppression. He said that it was an open secret that more innocent Pakistanis were being killed in Drone attacks than terrorists. He said that national dignity and honour should not be sacrificed in return for the aid under Kerry-Luger Bill. He said that it was in the interest of the survival of Pakistan that it should stop relying on the charity of others. He said that the blood of innocent Pakistanis being martyred in Drone attacks was as sacred as that of any other citizen living in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta or any other city of Pakistan.
Addressing the foundation-stone laying ceremonies of six Daanish schools for boy and girl students in Attock, Mianwali and DG Khan Sunday. Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Members National and Provincial Assemblies, Muslim League leaders and notables of the areas were present in large numbers on the occasion.
The chief minister said that there was no doubt about the fact that terrorism was the most serious problem being faced by Pakistan. He said that while on the one hand hundreds and thousands of Pakistanis including youth, elderly persons, children, security agency officials and officers and Jawans of Pak Army were becoming targets of terrorists, on the other hand Northern Areas were under a horrible series of Drone attacks in the name of war on terror. He said that Drone attacks were breading rather than curbing terrorism.
He said that national resources were being looted whether it was in the form of Hajj, Punjab Bank or NICL. He said that according to the report presented to Supreme Court, Punjab Bank was robbed of 76 billion rupees. He said that there was a need to act upon the teachings of Quran and Sunnah and transform Pakistan in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
