ACCA-WWF Business Earth Talk is an event designed to facilitate discussion of the challenges being faced by business leaders in their pursuit of transparency in their business operations and to reward their efforts for transparency in reporting.
The first discussion forum, 'climate change: A Business challenge or Opportunity', considers from Pakistan's perspective the business consequences of climate change requirements, the changes required in governance, and how to formulate adaption policies as well as taxation and carbon-trading changes. Panellists for this forum include Ali Hassan Habib, director general, WWF Pakistan, Arif Masud Mirza, head of ACCA Pakistan, Parvez Ghias, chief executive officer, Indus Motor Company Limited, Shah Murad Aliani, country representative, IUCN-Pakistan and Azhar Ali Syed, managing director, Tetra Pak Pakistan Ltd.
In the second discussion forum, 'Predicting the Future: Annual Report 2030', business leaders will consider the outlook of corporate reports for Pakistan and explore the potentially dynamic role of the finance profession. Panellists for this discussion forum include Dr Afra Sajjad, head of education and policy development, ACCA Pakistan, Hammad Naqi Khan, director programmes, WWF Pakistan, Sarfraz A Rehman, chief executive officer, Engro Foods Limited, Aqueel Merchant, partner & contry leader - advisory services, Ernst & Young Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder & Co Chartered Accountants, and Sohail Wajahat H. Siddiqui, chief executive officer, Siemens Pakistan Engineering Co Ltd.
The event will conclude with the ACCA-WWF Pakistan Environmental Reporting Awards 2010, acknowledging the companies that voluntarily disclose their sustainable business practices and manifest the business community's commitment to excellence in adopting the highest standards of transparent, multidimensional environmental and sustainability reporting in Pakistan.
