The Karachi Port handled 58,634 tonnes of cargo including 38,555 tonnes of import cargo, 20,079 tonnes of export cargo and 2,428 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 38,555 tonnes comprised of 14,186 tonnes of containerised cargo; 723 tonnes of general cargo; 10,546 tonnes of coal and 13,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 20,079 tonnes comprised of 11,231 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,974 tonnes of general cargo; 6,874 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,275 tonnes of cement; 1,813 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 1,786 tonnes of sand. Six ships namely MT Lahore, Haugaard Scan, Sofia, Mitra Bhum, APL Pearl and Tabernacle Prince with oil tanker, two general cargo carriers, two container ships and bulk cargo carrier sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Five vessels viz Qatar Spirit, Adventure, UBC Cyprus, Cap Graham and Hanjin Rome carrying bulk cargo carrier, oil tanker, bulk cargo carrier and two container ships respectively are currently at the berths. Three ships namely Alexi-1, Adventure and Cap Graham with cement carrier, oil tanker and container ship respectively expected to sail on Thursday, while two ships namely Royal Jasper and Hanjin Rome carrying low speed diesel oil and container ship respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
Four vessels viz Ginga Falcon, Busan Express, CSL Ride and American Term with chemicals carrier and three container ships respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while five vessels viz Ema Querida, MT Karachi, TS Tokyo, OOCL Charleston and Hopeful with styrene monomer, crude oil tanker, two container ships and steel & wheat carrier respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV ACX Margurite, CV CMA CGM Rossini, CV Lahore Express, MV Wales-II, MV Orient-II, MV Commodore and MT Mako are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Five ships namely Al-Soor-II, Al-Salam-II, Sea Lark, Rana and Saigon Express carrying diesel oil, wheat, cement and container ship respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz CV Saigon Express, CV CSAV Jura and MV Sea Lark scheduled to load/offload containers and wheat respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and Grain & Fertiliser Terminal (FAP) respectively on Thursday. Three container ships namely CV Glory, CV MSC Magali and CV Anglia are due to arrive on Friday.
