With the grace of All Mighty Allah, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology Islamabad conducted its third convocation on 21st April 2011 at Convention Centre, Islamabad. Chairman HEC, Professor Dr Javaid R. Laghari graced the occasion as chief guest. He congratulated successful students and their parents, saying HEC is concentrating on higher education and research like many other countries in the region.
In total, 479 students from different disciplines; Computer Science, Business Administration, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Economics and Urdu were conferred degrees on the occasion. It is important to highlight that four students from the department of economics were also awarded Ph.D degrees, while 16 students from various disciplines were awarded gold medals and merit certificates.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Mohammad Qaiser conferred the degrees. In his speech, he said that despite limited sources, the university has improved a lot in past few years. He also said that Islamabad campus of the varsity has shown outstanding performance and stands at 24th position in universities' ranking. In his address, Chairman HEC appreciated the efforts put in by Islamabad campus especially the Faculty and the administration. Professor Dr Zahid Saleem was also present on the occasion. The ceremony was attended by guests, students and their parents. The ceremony was organised and conducted in the best possible way. At the end of the event, registrar of the university thanked all the participants.-PR
