Occupation of OGDCL MD's office 60 management trainees arrested

Police have arrested 60 management trainees recently reinstated in Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) over allegations of occupying the office of Managing Director (MD) Naeem Malik to get the fixation of salaries on their own terms & conditions. After occupying the MD office, management trainees informed media that they had occupied the office of OGDCL MD Naeem Malik.
Addressing a press conference, OGDCL spokesman Basharat Mirza said management trainees had already been reinstated in the company under the ordinance relating to sacked employees and their salaries had been fixed. They are also getting stipend from the company.
"They want salaries as per their will...which is not possible," Mirza said, adding that OGDCL management was going to release cheques to the management trainees on ad hoc basis and a formal decision relating to salary would be taken by the Board of Directors (BoDs). "Around 300 management trainees have been reinstated and now being officers of OGDCL, their action is illegal," he said, adding that the matter will now be decided by the court. The spokesman further said that Collective Bargaining Agent (CBA) had already filed a case in court and hence the issue is sub judice. The row between OGDCL management and CBA has intensified over induction of 302 management trainees as regular employees. The CBA had also staged protest on Tuesday.
