Perturbed over the huge wastage of food during social events in India, the Indian government said it will study the relevant law of Pakistan to deal with the problem. The Food and Consumer Affairs Minister K V Thomas said on Wednesday that the Ministry had received many suggestions to control food wastage at social functions, All India Radio reported.
A meeting of the panel set up by the Ministry was convened in New Delhi to discuss the issue. N C Saxena who is a member of the panel said that India can take a look at the Pakistan one-dish law at weddings which limits the menu to one vegetable and chapatti or rice. The minister said that to stop the ostentatious attitude, a committee would be constituted to study the recommendations of the members.
