The funeral prayers of slain activists of MQM and ANP, who were gunned down on Monday in separate incidents, were offered amid airtight security, here on Tuesday. The funeral prayers of deceased Mirza Imran Baig, 28 alias Immi son of Naseem Baig, who was targeted by two armed riders at block 7 of Gulshan Iqbal when he was on the way to home from eatery on his car, was offered at Rizwan Society, Gulshan Iqbal block 2.
Baig, who was associated with MQM chapter 33-D of Gulshan Maymar, received multiple gunshots of 30 bore pistol and succumbed to his injuries in a private hospital. All commercial and social activities at Saachal Goth and other neighbourhoods remained suspended whole day as armed men restored to aerial firing, forcing shopkeepers to pull down their shutters, following the said incident. A large number of MQM workers were present in his cortege. Later, the victim, who was the resident of Blessing Apartments and was second among three siblings, was buried in local graveyard.
Meanwhile, the rites of slain activist of PPP Asghar alias Pakistani alias Bihari son of Habib was offered after Zuhr prayers at Al-Habib Masjid located at sector 15-B of Orangi Town. Asghar, who used to run a restaurant and father of ten, was targeted by unknown-armed assailants near Tehzeeb Kabab House in the limits of Pakistan Bazaar police station on Monday. Scores of PPP workers including president of PSF Faisal Sheikh attended his funeral procession. Later, he was interred in a local graveyard of sector 14-B of Orangi Town.
