Minister Labour Punjab, Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi has said the government is introducing welfare-oriented schemes for the betterment of labour community. Textbooks, stationery, transport, uniform and education are being provided free of cost to more than 27,000 children of industrial workers in 36 workers welfare schools.
He said that industrial workers while benefiting from the educational facilities being provided by the government should educate their children so that they could play their active role in the progress and development of the country.
Talking to a delegation of female industrial workers, Qureshi said that education was a key to progress and prosperity and government was making efforts for providing education to all the children of the country as it was the only way to get rid of poverty. He said that government was launching a special campaign for creating awareness among the children of industrial workers about benefits of education. The minister said that the government has ensured provision of modern treatment facilities in social security hospitals for industrial workers and their dependents.
