Floods in three countries and PM Gilani

Published Updated

"Deadly floods have hit countries like Australia, Sri Lanka and South Africa this year", reports Reuter news agency (March 23). Through your esteemed newspaper, I suggest that the heads of all three governments to get valuable advise from our worthy Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to avoid the devastating floods in their countries in the future.
When similar floods that were not less than a natural catastrophe devastated Pakistan last year, PM Gilani's statement was on record claiming: "Had the Kalabagh dam been in place, devastating floods would have been avoided."
I hope our worthy PM Gilani would also explain them how to store water in the proposed KBD dam that design-wise was not meant to store floodwater as ex-Irsa chairman Fatehullah Gandapur explained in his rejoinder to the PM (August 12, 2010) and also how more than the spate of 100 MAF water would store in the proposed KBD with a capacity of only 6.1 MAF.
