The Karachi Electric Supply Company's high-tension transmission network was disconnected from two places on Saturday night by unknown thieves causing Pipri West to KEPZ circuit to trip. The maintenance teams have replaced the damaged wires. First the thieves cut off high tension wire between pole No 9 and 10 and removed about 60 to 70 of meters wire from there, causing a tripping to the circuit.
After about 6-7 hours, the circuit was again disconnected between tower No 22 and 23, from where the unknown thieves took away about 40 meters of copper wire. In related developments, three different police stations in the city arrested a total of seven wire thieves and recovered stolen wires and cutters from their possession.
Gadap police station arrested two persons along with 15 kilograms of copper wire and a cutter. Investigation of the case is being conducted by KESC Police Station. Aram Bagh police arrested two accused persons with copper wire. Ajmer Nagri police station also arrested three thieves red handed and recovered 40 kilograms of KESC leads and wires from them.-PR
