Islamabad police arrested four persons allegedly involved in theft of gold ornaments worth Rs 2 million from a house. Maryam Fazal, wife of Tariq Din of sector F-11/2, registered a complaint with Shalimar police station, stating that she employed two maids Rabia and Shazia, who took away her gold ornaments worth Rs 2 million when she was out of his home for shopping purpose, said a spokesman of Islamabad Police here on Monday.
When police failed in tracing the actual thieves, the case was transferred to CIA Police Islamabad, but all efforts to apprehend real criminals remained futile, he said, adding that Tariq Din, husband of complainant, appealed to IGP Islamabad Wajid Durrani for his role in tracing the actual perpetrators.
SP (Rural) Umer Hyat was given the task to investigate the matter and to ensure the early arrest of the people behind the crime. The police team succeeded in arresting four persons and recovered the gold ornaments from their possession. The nabbed persons were identified as Riaz son of Ahmed Yar, Ahmed Yar son of Samandar Khan, Imdad Ullah son of Muhammad Nawaz, Jagde Khan son of Samandar Khan residents of district Chinniot. Two women Rabia and Shazia were also arrested, but they did not appear before court once after getting the bail, the spokesman said, adding that the two were declared as proclaimed offenders and police have also started efforts to arrest them.
Tariq Din appreciated performance of police team and thanked IGP Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani for constituting a special team in this regard. Wajid Ali Durrani has appealed the citizens to get complete verification about the bio-data of people before accommodating them at job of domestic servant or any other.
It is to mention that office of SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has also issued advisory to citizens several times to get complete verification of data of people before employing them as domestic servants. The IGP Islamabad said that people offer their services at low wages and look for opportunity to steal the valuables after getting the confidence of the house inmates and deprive them of their belongings. He said that it is the duty of police to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens, but people should adopt precautionary measures themselves to avoid any kind of such mishap.
