Appointment of executive directors: OGDC board to consider today

The Board of Directors (BoDs) of the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC), will meet on Monday to consider approving the appointment of four Executive Directors despite protest by some General Managers.
The Human Resource Committee (HRC) of OGDC's BoD has interviewed 55 short-listed candidates for the posts of Executive Directors. Some senior General Managers (GMs) with wide ranging experience in their respective field have accused OGDC management of making appointments without following due procedure in the past. "We are concerned that OGDC management may, yet again, appoint outsiders with no experience comparable to the company's regular employees as EDs," some senior GMs maintained.
Two senior GMs have lodged a strong protest over the lukewarm response of OGDC management to promote them to ED slots. Basharat Mirza, General Manager, Supply Chain Management, in a letter sent to MD Naeem Malik and ED Human Resource (HR) Arif Ibrahim claimed that he was bypassed for promotion. Another GM has written a letter to Chairman of National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources Sheikh Waqas seeking his intervention in his case.
OGDC MD Naeem Malik has requested the Chairman of the National Assembly Committee on Petroleum to terminate the employee who wrote a letter to him (Waqas). However, the latter has requested Naeem Malik to address the grievances of the aggrieved party and ensure transparency in the whole process of EDs appointment.
