Devolution of culture department: Sindh government to promote all historic sites
Sindh Culture Minister, Sassui Palijo has said that Sindh government would take concrete steps to project and promote all cultural sites and historical monuments handed over to the Sindh province. As Punjab province was handed over full culture department, by the Federal Government after passage the 18th Amendment.
This she said while commenting on transferring of remaining sites and monuments included Pakistan National Museum, Wazir Mansion, Flag Staff House, Censor Board, Moen-Jo-Daro and its remaining parts. Archeology office Hyderabad and Excavation and Exploration Branch, Karachi, after the hectic efforts and well-timed act by the Sindh government, notification in this regard had been issued by the Federal Government, on Saturday.
Sassui said that after notification such sites and monuments handed over to Sindh Culture Department, now it is the prime responsibility of us to project, promote, improve and develop all the sites. As well as those who already in our control, it would also further progress and look after and recover them. It was the vision of the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto that such subjects would be transferred to the provinces, which fulfilled the President, Prime Minister and Mian Raza Rabbani and the Chief Minister Sindh who deserve for praise and admire. Now it would be our foremost duty to discharge our responsibilities upto the expectations of the people work for the projection, development and progress of all sites and monuments in well planned manner and promotion of cultural activities in the province, she concluded.
