A meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Captain Muhammad Tariq Zehri (retd) urged doctors to ensure their attendance at their respective hospitals and health centres. According to a statement, here on Sunday, the commissioner also emphasised the need to check sale of spurious medicines at medical stores of the provincial capital.
Sources in the health department told that hundreds of doctors and paramedical staff at government hospitals and basic health units in Balochistan remain absent from their duties but are regularly drawing their monthly salaries and allowances.
They also said fake and spurious medicines worth billions of rupees are being smuggled to Balochistan via Pak-Afghan border and being sold in the metropolis and its far-flung districts.
