CDA organises '29th Spring & Vegetable Show'

Green character and beautiful landscape are the hallmarks of Islamabad, which makes it unique amongst the modern capital cities of the world. Flowers not only add beauty to this green city, but also depict the esthetics of the residents.
Chairman Capital Develop-ment Authority (CDA), Imtiaz Inayat Elahi said this while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the 29th Spring & Vegetable Show - 2011, organised by CDA in collaboration with Islamabad Horticultural Society, here on Friday. Elahi said that apart from beautification, flowers and roses are great source of recreation and entertainment for the residents and such exhibitions encourage people towards plantation of flowers at their homes.
A large number of varieties of flowers were exhibited at the show. The organisations, which participated in the show, were CDA, Khan Research Laboratories, Pak PWD, Islamabad Club, Indonesian Embassy, Pakistan Air Force Hospital, National Highway Authority and Pakistan Motorway & Traffic Police and others.
CDA chairman said that this year, they expanded the show by adding different varieties of flowers and species of birds being exhibited in the flowers and birds show. CDA is making all out efforts to further enhance the beauty of the capital by planting sapling of flower trees as well as indigenous species of trees in harmony with the climatic conditions of the capital. He also said that CDA would encourage participation of more categories in the exhibition.-PR
