A gas supply cut to five power plants by the Sui Northern Gas Pipe Lines (SNGPL) has resulted into power shortfall of another 1000 MW in the system, said Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) spokesman.
The SNGPL has suspended gas supply to five power plants in Punjab including Orient, Saphire, Fauji Kabirwala, Rousch and Saif Power, he said, adding: Consequently, Pepco has no option but to increase load shedding durations for another one hour in urban areas and two hours in the rural areas within Pepco jurisdiction. He has assured electricity consumers that the load shedding timings will be reduced as soon gas supply is restored. He has regretted the inconvenience to be faced by the consumers.
