Levy of sales tax on agriculture inputs: KBP to hold rallies on April 8
Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has announced to hold rallies and demonstrations throughout the country on April 8, 2011 (Friday) to protest against imposition of sales tax on agricultural inputs and increase in prices of petroleum products.
While the Board will observe 'protest day' in the Sindh province on April 5, 2011 to press the government for withdrawing the increase in petroleum prices and levy of sales tax on agricultural implements and inputs. KBP Central President Sardar Zafar Hussein and General Secretary Malik Muhammad Ramzan Rohari announced this in a statement issued here Monday. They hoped that the growers and masses would jointly force the government to take back both these anti-people decisions. They also called for releasing the KBP office-bearers of Khanewal and tenants, who were arrested while protesting for their rights.
